Petition Calls for Streaming Services To Stop Charging for 60 Days
Some of us, especially those of us with children, will probably agree that streaming services are essential these days. It’s not necessarily that you need to see Stranger Things or The Mandalorian; but everyone is confined to their homes, having more options of what to watch is more than helpful. And, as of press time, 64,000+ people are of like mind.
A petition was created on Change.org urging streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime to give customers 60 days of free service.
The creator of the petition argues that due to the nationwide shelter-in-place orders streaming services should drop their fees for the next two months.
“If people can watch as much as they want, whenever they want, this will help alleviate the stress of home isolation, as well as encourage people to stay home,” the petition states. “This is a responsible community health strategy.”
Netflix added 16 million new subscribers in the first three months of the year doubling its projections and surging its stock price.
Netflix is now valued at $190 million-worth more than Disney.
