Fayetteville Gets International Folk Festival Back in September 2021
The Arts Council of Fayetteville, Cumberland County has announced that Fayetteville will once again have the International Folk Festival back in 2021.
The multi-cultural festival and parade of nations will return to Festival Park and Downtown Fayetteville on September 25 and 26, 2021.
“We are BACK and stronger than ever! Our festival has always brought the community together to interact with different cultures and celebrate what makes us unique,” Bob Pinson, Interim President & CEO of the Arts Council said in a release. “Our festival reminds us that we are stronger together and will accomplish more than we will ever do as individuals. As a unified community, we continue to celebrate the beauty of our diversity and inclusiveness.”
The festival is set to include the Parade of Nations on Saturday, September 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. Additionally, the festival will have a kids zone, international cuisines, cultural arts and crafts, live entertainment, and a Native American cultural showcase.
One of the biggest annual events in Fayetteville, the International Folk Festival was cancelled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Pinson said the Arts Council is looking forward to getting things back to normal.
“As we transition into a sense of normalcy, the Arts Council wants to reassure festival-goers that they are attending an open-air event with ample access to sanitizing dispensers and precautionary measures in place,” Pinson said.
This will be the 43rd year for the International Folk Festival in Fayetteville. The event is free to attend.
