With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now recommending COVID-19 vaccinations for everyone 12 years and older, Cumberland County vaccines are now available for those ages.

"The Cumberland County Department of Public Health will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to individuals ages 12 to 15, in accordance with new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations," Cumberland County announced in a release, Thursday. "The first opportunity the Health Department will offer the vaccine to juveniles will be Thursday, May 14, at the clinic at Fayetteville Housing Authority Clinic, 229 Lincoln Drive, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m."

There are 20 locations around Cumberland County offering the vaccines for anyone aged 12 and up, and you can find the spot closest to you by visiting https://myspot.nc.gov/ or on the County's website here, for appointments. You can see the chart below for upcoming clinics scheduled as well.

The county says that 24.1 percent of the population has received its first vaccination shot, and 21.1 percent are fully vaccinated.

More troubling is that Cumberland County has had an increase in positive coronavirus cases recently, moving the area back into the Orange Tier of the state's County Alert System. That comes after the positive rate climbed to 8.7 percent for Cumberland County. The World Health Organization recommends a positive rate of 5 percent.
