VRBO Says This Is When You Should Book Summer Vacation Rentals
Still making your summer vacation plans? The summer holidays are coming up soon and if you’re hoping to book a vacation home for one of them, it’s time to make your move. Vrbo is sharing their recommendations for when to book your summer vacation rentals for Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
According to data from Vrbo, private vacation rentals tend to book up faster than hotels and other kinds of accommodations. Years ago it was the other way around. When all the hotels were booked up I’d go find a VRBO pretty easily. Now, waiting to make a reservation and then finding out you can’t rent a home where and when you want it will ruin your getaway before it even starts.
According to Travel and Leisure:
To make sure that doesn’t happen to you, the vacation rental site recommends
- Memorial Day is May 27th this year and travelers who want to book a vacation home for Memorial Day weekend should do so by today (April 15th).
- If you want to get a rental home for the Fourth of July, Vrbo advises booking by May 17th.
- And if you’re hoping to spend Labor Day (September 2nd) weekend in a home away from home, Vrbo recommends booking by July 22nd at the latest.
- If you’re hoping to get a vacation rental in a popular summer beach destination, like North Carolina’s Outer Banks or Cape May and Ocean City in New Jersey, you really don’t want to risk missing out by waiting too long to secure a reservation.
Now ya know. One other tip. Ask some friends to join you and split the costs of a huge house. I did this years ago with 3 other couples. Our house was huge, right on the beach, and had all the cool bells and whistles. It also only cost the families a fraction of what it would cost to do a lot of other trips!
