North Carolina and South Carolina have a number of acting opportunities available this summer.

If you’ve always wanted to see yourself on screen and live acting in the great states of North Carolina and South Carolina, I’ve got some exciting news for you!

Several new television and film projects have been approved to receive N.C. Film and Entertainment Grant funds, Governor Cooper’s office announced last week. Those projects combined are expected to produce direct in-state spending of $107 million, while creating more than 4,900 job opportunities in the state.

South Carolina is also a hotbed of summer filming opportunities, from large budget television series’ to feature films. The casting calls for actors and extras are numerous.

If you’ve never been in film and are wondering what being an extra is like, the Bucket List has this to say: “A movie extra (also called background talent or background actor) is a person placed in the background of a scene to make it seem more realistic—like diners at a crowded restaurant, shoppers at a mall or fans at a concert. More often than not a background actor doesn’t have any memorized lines to speak, nor is any acting skill required, though the requirements will be different for every movie and for every scene. Plus, the director may change direction on a whim, so you’ll need to be okay with expecting the unexpected! Don’t be surprised if they pull you out of the crowd to become the happy dancer at a sports game or to be the one to wave down a taxi on a busy street“.

But if this has always been your dream or just want to check it off your bucket list, this is the summer to do it! So here’s a few of the acting opportunities available for you in North Carolina and South Carolina.
