Here we are wrapping up the Dog Days of Summer, traditionally, the hottest days of the calendar year, and at the same time trying to get our back-to-school shopping done. Before you know it, the holiday season will be knocking at our door.
Prior to the hustle and bustle of Fall, here’s an idea. Why not pack the family up for a quick weekend getaway?
For the nearly 11 million of us that call North Carolina home, when we get the urge to get away, we have so many fantastic options. We have the beach, the mountains, the Sandhills, the Southern Coastal Plain, and the Piedmont. So many choices of things to do and places to see.
Of course, every state here in the U.S. can boast about its various points of interest. But here in North Carolina, you can ski in the morning and before the sun goes down, you can walk along one of our many beaches along our fantastic North Carolina coastline.
Quick North Carolina Weekend Getaways
When it comes to the idea of a quick weekend getaway, let’s take a look at five great options. We begin with a trip to the Port City of Wilmington. Then it’s on to the Outer Banks followed by the mountain town of Asheville. From Ashville, let’s spend a few hours along America’s most scenic highway the Blue Ridge Parkway where our journey will take us to the Boone area and then finally, we end up in the Capital City of Raleigh, North Carolina.
