• 3. Moses Cone Memorial Park

  Moses H. Cone Memorial Park - Milepost 294 - Blue Ridge Parkway (U.S. National Park Service)

  Textile magnate Moses H. Cone built this summer retreat with his wife, Bertha, at the turn of the 20 th century. In 1949, the family donated the estate, which is listed on the Register of Historic Places, to the National Park Service. Visit Flat Top Manor and estate, now known as the Moses H.

• 4. Mount Jefferson State Park

  Mount Jefferson State Natural Area

  Located in Ashe County 25 miles northeast of Boone, Mount Jefferson State Natural Area surrounds a natural landmark that offers vistas as far as Tennessee from its overlooks and Luther Rock. The mountain, first spotted from the Blue Ridge Parkway, rises abruptly from the surrounding landscape.
