BREAKING: Cumberland County Reports First COVID-19 Related Death
A Cumberland County resident in their 40s has died after battling complications from the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Cumberland County Department of Public Health reported. It is the first death associated with the coronavirus for a Cumberland County resident.
Officials said the individual died on Monday, April 6 in Georgia after traveling, but was a resident here. Because of privacy restrictions, officials said they would not be providing additional information on the individual.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and others who are grieving this loss,” said Public Health Director Jennifer Green. “I want to continue to encourage everyone to follow the guidance about social distancing, especially with the Easter holiday weekend approaching.”
County officials said the person was already counted among the 66 current positive cases being reported.
