5 Sports/Programs That Should Be Part of ESPN’s “The Ocho” Marathon
Anyone that has seen Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story knows the battle between Average Joe’s Gymnasium and Globo Gym was aired on ESPN8: The Ocho, and for the second consecutive year, ESPN is embracing fringe sports for one wild day of programming.
The network has announced that on August 8 (8/8, get it?), ESPN2 will be transformed for 24 hours into “The Ocho” and air sports competitions like the Fenway Hurling Classic and the Cornhole: ACL Pro Invitational. All of the riveting action will be bookended by airings of Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
Sure, the lineup truly looks outstanding, but here are five other sports/programs that we think were overlooked.
Coopers Hill Cheese Roll
Every year people enter this competition in Brockworth, England in which they chase wheels of double Gloucester cheese down a ridiculously steep hill. The prize? Well…the wheels of cheese they’re chasing. Oh, and they damn near kill themselves while doing so. Such fun!

Badminton
As far as Olympic sports go, Badminton doesn’t get enough attention. It is intense AF! Just watch this crazy retrospective video of Olympic Badminton action from 1992-2012.
Jai alai
Take curved wicker baskets and use them to throw a rubber ball at alarmingly fast speeds well-exceeding 100 mph within an enclosed space. WHAT COULD GO WRONG?!
Acrobatic Rock ‘n’ Roll Dance Competitions
This sport is rather self-explanatory, but the fact that Katerina Tikhonova, who is widely believed to be the daughter of Vladimir Putin, is one of the sport’s star athletes adds some serious intrigue if only for just imagining the type of pressure there is simply for being her partner.

Cheap Seats
A gem that ran on ESPN Classic from 2004-2006, Cheap Seats was hosted by comedians Randy and Jason Sklar and saw the twin brothers provide commentary over old footage of obscure sports. It was basically Mystery Science Theater 3000 but for fringe sports, and it was HILARIOUS!
