Happy birthday, America! With Independence Day fast approaching, it’s crucial to find the best local spots to celebrate with dazzling fireworks displays. Fortunately, there are many events happening in and around Cumberland County this week to ensure that you and your family have a happy 4th of July in Fayetteville and the surrounding area!

First of all though, let’s take a look at what has ALREADY taken place, including fireworks at Fort Liberty and in Hope Mills.

4th At The Fort

The 4th of July festivities were off to an early start this past weekend with Fort Liberty’s annual 4th At The Fort event. While the event was technically a few days before the 4th, there was still no shortage of patriotic fun for those who traveled from across the state (and even across the country) to be there.

Attendees were able to experience a day full of delicious food and live music, along with a breathtaking mid-air showcase from the Golden Knights parachute team. The night then concluded with a thunderous fireworks show that sent the crowd home with ringing ears and smiling faces.

Hope Mills also got in on the Saturday fireworks action, but they aren’t done with Independence fun, as you’ll see below they still have the parade on Thursday.

4th of July By The Numbers

The 4th at the Fort event at Fort Liberty served as a fun-filled pregame for the real deal this Thursday. Americans are going all out this year to celebrate Independence Day. According to research from WalletHub, Americans are spending approximately $9.4 billion on food for the 4th.

Additionally, about $4 billion is spent annually on beer and wine for the patriotic holiday, along with $2.7 billion on fireworks. The research also shows that about 44% of Americans are planning to a fireworks show this year.

If you’re part of that 44%, practice caution and exercise proper fireworks safety procedure. An average of 740 people end up in the emergency room every 4th of July due to fireworks-related injuries.
