Sorry Parents, But A Baby Shark Movie Is On The Way
If you thought the Baby Shark craze had finally died down and parents would no longer have to deal with their kids requesting that song 8,000 times a day, think again! Earlier this week the first trailer was released for Baby Shark’s Big Movie. Parents, time to re-up on Advil!
Baby Shark has been a major cultural phenomenon for years now, with the original music video hitting over 13 billion views since its release in 2015. It’s the most watched video in YouTube history, and its immense popularity paved the way for an entire franchise to be born.
So naturally, a Baby Shark movie was more a matter of “when” than “if.”
Dubbed as “a major ocean picture event”, the new Baby Shark movie is set to premiere December 8 on Nickelodeon, as well as the streaming service Paramount+. So if there was ever a time for parents to conveniently “forget” to pay their monthly cable and streaming subscriptions, it’s now.
According to a news release on PR Newswire, Baby Shark’s Big Movie will center around the titular Baby Shark adjusting to new surroundings when his family moves to the big city. The movie will see many of the voice actors from the Baby Shark’s Big Show! series reprising their roles. This includes Kimiko Glenn, Luke Youngblood, and Patrick Warburton.
The film will also feature some new characters voiced by the likes of Ashley Tisdale, Saturday Night Live cast members Ego Nwodim and Chloe Fineman, and even an appearance from Lance Bass. Something tells me they’ll really lean into Lance’s last name there.
Baby Shark’s Big Movie will also feature 13 songs on its accompanying soundtrack. The soundtrack will release on the same day as the motion picture, so children everywhere can sing along to their favorite tracks ALL. DAY. LONG.
As obnoxious as the songs may be for adults, there’s no denying that Baby Shark has a profoundly positive impact on the kiddos. Their joy and excitement when those “doo-doo-doos” start up is adorable to witness, so maybe the movie will be worth the headache for parents.
But then again, I totally wouldn’t judge any parents for hiding this news from their kids. It’s completely your call and I commend either way you go with it. Godspeed, mom and dad!
