Is Aaron Rodgers Returning to the Jets This Season?
Surprises and, sadly, injuries have been a theme during the 2023 NFL season. Two star quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets and Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings, have been deemed out for the season because of Achilles injuries. Anyone who knows anything about Achilles injuries knows they are super rough. But, thankfully, the sports medicine that helps athletes recover from those injuries has advanced. While Rogers was originally deemed out for the season, is Aaron Rodgers returning to the Jets this season?
It’s possible. And, boy, would that make for another interesting twist for this season.
Rodgers teased a possible return to the field following the Jets’ 27-6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday (Nov. 6). Rodgers stood on the field with Chargers star safety Derwin James III, and when asked when he was coming back, Rodgers had an interesting answer. “A few weeks,” he replied. A few weeks? That means this season.
Rodgers tore his Achilles on the Jets’ very first drive of the season, bringing some unfortunate fate to the Jets’ season. He’s been working to improve and return by the end of the season, as crazy as that sounds. He also spoke with NBC Sports about a possible return over the weekend the Breeders’ Cup, saying (via Fox), “It’s a process, step by step, day by day. There’s some great days, some rough days. But the goal for me is to come back this year.”
Lastly, Rodgers also recently posted a suspicious message on his social media accounts, stating, “A little more time…” The photo on Instagram also had an image of a new Zenith watch, implying his return is coming sooner than expected. During Monday Night Football, the Jets lost to the Chargers in a tough matchup. That was a key AFC matchup for the team if they want to get to the wild-card game.
