Nicki Minaj Nails Adele Impression On ‘Carpool Karaoke’
Nicki Minaj was the first guest back with James Corden’s infamous segment “Carpool Karaoke” on The Late Late Show after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
Nicki showed off her hitmaking rapping chops along with Corden on their ride through Los Angeles where the duo rapped along to some of the star’s biggest hits, including “Super Bass,” “Starships,” “Chun-Li,” and “Anaconda” plus two of her newest songs — “Do We Have a Problem?” with Lil Baby and “Blick Blick” with Coi Leray.
Corden reminded Nicki that when Adele was a guest on “Carpool Karaoke” back in 2016, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer rapped the lyrics to the fan-favorite hit “Monster” by the Bronx rapper.
“I just loved it, she made me so so happy,” she remarked. “She embodied Nicki Minaj.”
Nicki returned the favor by giving the London singer’s “Someone Like You” a shot after giving a spot-on Adele impression.
“I was blown away by Nicki the entire afternoon we spent together,” Corden shared with reporters ahead of the episode’s airing in a press conference Wednesday (April 6) per Billboard. “I was so happy to be in her orbit and in her company. I really, really loved being with her. It was so joyous.”
“It was so difficult, cutting this down. There’s probably a 45-minute cut of this,” he added. “She was open, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her crack up laughing the way that she was. I couldn’t have wished for a better artist to bring the segment back after two years away.”
