Meghan McCain Is Leaving ‘The View’ After Four Years
Meghan McCain is departing The View, after nearly four years on the ABC daytime talk show.
“I’m just going to rip the Bandaid off,” McCain said at the start of the below clip. “I am here to tell all of you, my wonderful cohosts and the viewers at home that this is going to be my last season here at The View. I will be here through the end of July to finish out the season with all of you, which I am grateful for.”
“This was not an easy decision. It took a lot of thought and counsel and prayer, talking to my family and my close friends. Covid has changed the world for all of us. It changed the way — at least for me — the way I am looking at life, the way I’m living my life, the way I want my life to look like.”
She called co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines “the most talented women on all of television hands down.”

Whoopi Goldberg was the first of the ladies to respond to McCain’s statement saying, “It’s been wonderful to sit across from you.”
Per Variety, McCain served as the second longest-running conservative talking head on the show, often going head-to-head with her co-hosts — resulting in many viral and highly-rated on-air moments.
A source told the outlet that McCain made the decision to leave on her own and that recent rumors about on-set feuds had nothing to do with her exit. McCain’s contract isn’t up yet, but earlier this summer, she approached ABC executives to ask to be released from her deal because she does not want to move back to New York City. She relocated to Washington D.C. during the pandemic, where she and her husband, political commentator and frequent Fox News personality, Ben Domenech, are raising their young daughter, Liberty.
McCain is the oldest daughter of the late U.S. Arizona Senator John McCain, who passed away in 2018 after a battle with brain cancer
There hasn’t been a decision yet on McCain’s replacement.
