Lumberton High’s De’Andre Nesbitt Wins Honda Civic in Driven 2 Excel
Another unusual school year is coming to an unusual end, and for De’Andre Nesbitt from Lumberton Senior High School, it’s ending with a new car. Nesbitt won a 2020 Honda Civic LX in Beasley Media Group’s Driven 2 Excel program, sponsored by Lumberton Honda.
Beasley Media of Fayetteville (Foxy 99, WKML, My Kiss Radio, Sunny 94.3, 96.5 BOB FM, 107.7 JAMZ) awarded De’Andre a brand new 2020 Honda Civic LX from Lumberton Honda for his academic and attendance achievements this school year. To qualify, Robeson County Schools students had to maintain a GPA of 3.2 for each grading period of the 2020-2021 school year, and have had no more than five unexcused absences. The car was awarded at a special event Thursday afternoon at Lumberton Honda.
Additionally, six $1,000 scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors by Piedmont Natural Gas. The scholarship winners representing the six Robeson County schools were:
- Javian Manning – Fairmont High School
- Chase McCormick – Lumberton Senior High School
- John Lalu – Purnell Swett High School
- Jaden Shontrell Mack – Red Springs High School
- Ashanti McKinley – Early College High School
- David Estrada – St. Paul’s High School
Because of the impacts of the coronavirus on the school year once again this year, the normal large event couldn’t be held to give away the car. Instead, Beasley Media and Lumberton Honda partnered for a senior parade of cars. Seniors were invited to decorate their cars and drive through the dealership to receive a gift from the sponsors, and to enter their car in the best decorated car contest.
Beasley Media Group, Robeson County Schools, Lumberton Honda and Piedmont Natural Gas are proudly supporting this year’s Driven 2 Excel program in Robeson County.
