Jason Kelce Reacts To Proposal, Fans Urge Him To Officiate
How incredible would it be to see Jason Kelce add “wedding officiant” to his post-retirement résumé? During a tailgate before the Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, Oct. 13, the Eagles alum mingled with fans when he witnessed a surprise proposal right in front of him.
In a video on X (formerly Twitter), Kelce posed with a fan, who then signaled her boyfriend to join the picture. Before Kelce could put his arms around them, the boyfriend dropped to one knee, catching his girlfriend completely off guard.
As the crowd erupted in cheers, Kelce appeared stunned, exclaiming, “Oh, my God!” and stepping back to give the couple their moment. Fans then broke into an Eagles chant. Kelce’s New Heights show shared the clip on X, writing, “Jason didn’t see this one coming [laughing emoji]. Congrats to the happy couple!”
Fans loved both the proposal and Kelce’s reaction. “I love the way the person filming stayed on Jason instead of the actual couple getting engaged [laughing emoji]. They knew what the people wanted to see,” one person commented.
Another added, “He respectfully backs out, but there’s no way these people don’t want him standing right there.” A third fan said, “Him getting emotional is my favorite. Such a good dude.” One fan even suggested, “If someone proposes directly in front of you like that, you have to officiate the wedding. Sorry [Jason], those are the rules.”
Some fans also drew comparisons to a viral photo of a proposal in front of Taylor Swift, who is dating Kelce’s brother and New Heights co-host, Travis Kelce. This event also took place at Lincoln Financial Field. Others referenced a proposal from Swift’s documentary Miss Americana, joking that they had “war flashbacks.”
In another Philly moment, while Kelce was on the roof of an RV, he cracked open a beer to cheers from the crowd and started chugging it with a fan. As the cameraman filming the scene moved in closer, his right leg broke through the roof of the RV, sending his camera crashing to the ground.
Jason Kelce was recently embraced by the Buffalo Bills family in style. In a video shared on X ahead of the Bills’ game against the New York Jets on Monday, October 14, Kelce appeared dressed as Fred Flintstone, complete with a bright blue furry Bills hat, while taking Gatorade shots out of a bowling ball.
Kelce also sported his Flintstone outfit on the field, showing off a few dance moves for the camera while cohosting ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown. In another clip, he explained his choice of costume: “I’m Fred Flintstone! I’m part of the Water Buffalo club. Yabba dabba doo!”
