McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Is Wildly Popular But It’s Leaving Menus Soon
McDonald’s rolled out a new $5 Value Meal on June 25 for a limited time in response to complaints about their high prices that consists of a 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, fries, a drink, and customer’s choice of a McChicken or McDouble and it’s been wildly popular. So much so that McDonald’s had its “busiest Tuesday of the year thus far” on June 25 (the day of the launch) according to a July 11 report from foot traffic platform Placer.ai. The only problem is that it’s unclear how long this $5 meal deal will be at McDonald’s with an anonymous source telling CNBC that it would only be available for about a month.
The $5 Meal Deal’s popularity is due to the rise in McDonald’s prices since 2019 with price increases of 21% for Big Macs, 28% for 10-piece chicken McNugget meals, 23% for Egg McMuffins, 20% for Quarter Pounders with Cheese, 27% for Big Mac meals and 44% for a medium order of fries. Other competitors have jumped in the fray with a new $1.99 menu from Sonic that will be available permanently and Burger King’s $5 Your Way Meal that is expected to be available all summer.
The bottom line is that you need to get the McDonald’s $5 Value Meal soon before it leaves the menu and hope that it may become a returning item like some of their other offerings.
