Amazon MGM Studio is set to start filming it's latest romcom with headlining star, Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) in North Carolina's Kure Beach and they are looking for movie extras.

The film is titled Merv and the plot will center around dogs.  If you are in the area and have been bitten by the acting bug, this could be your big chance! The casting group TW Cast & Recruit took to social media via Facebook to announce that several extras and their dogs will be needed.

According to wect.com: "Filming will begin April 18 in Kure Beach. TW Cast & Recruit said it will post more details about the extra application process in the first week in April. The agency says people interested in submitting their dogs can upload a picture of them in their Castgen account, a database the agency uses to find extras. Anyone can start an account on the database by providing their phone number."

Nabbing a role as an extra in a show or movie is a nice side hustle and is a great way to jump-start your entertainment career.   As an extra, there are no lines to memorize, the director places them wherever they are needed for the scene.  Don't let that fool you though, there are still some fairly strict workplace perimeters that need to be met, such as getting to set on time, long days filming and sometimes providing one's own wardrobe (depending on the project).

If you are wondering about the pay scale for movie extras, indeed.com tells us; " The pay scale for movie extras varies widely, but the national average for background actors is $28.84 per hour. The differences in wages for movie extras are due to a few variables:

  • The budget for the film
  • Whether the extra is a union or non-union worker
  • The availability of union background actors
  • How long the extra must work each day while on set
  • The types of scenes the extra is required to be in

Union background actors generally make more money than non-union extras. Non-union extras may work for free or receive pay that is below minimum wage. Some people look for movie extra jobs in hopes of building an acting career. Ultimately, union affiliation or the lack thereof makes a difference for background actors who would like to advance their careers.

5 Awesome Alternative Bridal Bouquets to Liven up Your Wedding

We are warming for wedding season with all the spring and summer brides hot and heavy in planning modes. Wedding planning has never been as diverse as at it is now, with new ideas and trends popping up over social media. The merging of old traditions with new flair is especially enticing. I, for one, am really enchanted with folks are reimaging the traditional bridal bouquets.

If you have ever wondered why brides carry bridal bouquets down the aisle, I did a little digging into history.

Bridal Bouquets In History

According to Reader's Digest "The origin of this floral tradition stems back to ancient Rome. Flowers were a common decoration at Roman weddings because they were known as symbols of new beginnings, fidelity, and fertility.

Herbs were more prominent in Middle Age bouquets than flowers, especially dill and garlic, which supposedly kept evil spirits and bad luck away. The dill reappeared at the wedding feast to get the newlyweds ready to consummate their love that night. Yes, even our ancestors knew about the wonders of aphrodisiac foods. By the Victorian era, exchanging flowers became an increasingly popular way to express love. Keeping with the romantic theme, they eventually became linked to weddings. Cut to present day, and flowers continue to play a prominent role in wedding bouquets and around the venue—something wedding planners know all too well."

Flowers will never go out of style in the world of wedding planning, however some of these bridal bouquets are so cool they are sure to stick around for a long time. Traditions have to start somewhere!

Available in many different flower styles and colors, this is a customizable option that brides are gravitating toward especially with the ease designing and ordering from artist vendor sites like etsy.com.

Some couples are forgoing flowers for puppies, for a good cause.  Using puppies from local rescues that need good homes, the wedding party carries these cuties down the aisle in the hope that they find good homes amongst the guests.
