Don’t Miss Opening Week For Fayetteville Woodpeckers At Segra Stadium

Batter up! Baseball season is back in full swing, and this week the city of Fayetteville’s beloved baseball team, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, are all set to start their 2024 season. The team will hold their Opening Night game Tuesday, April 9 against the Charleston RiverDogs at Segra Stadium.

This year marks the Woodpeckers fifth season, which the team is excited to celebrate with their fans. To sweeten the deal for opening night, the first 1,000 fans that make their way through the gates on Tuesday will receive a 2024 magnet schedule, courtesy of Independence Insurance Agents of North Carolina.

But that’s not all Woodpeckers fans have to look forward to for the opener. On Tuesday night fireworks will light up Segra Stadium in a dazzling display immediately following the game.

Tuesday’s game will kick off the team’s entire opening week, with various events and celebrations for fans to enjoy. The Woodpeckers’ full opening week schedule is as follows:

  • April 9 – Opening Night
  • April 10 – Education Day
  • April 11 – Thirsty Thursday
  • April 12 – Fireworks Friday
  • April 13 – Jackie Robinson Celebration
  • April 14 – Sunday Funday

Though Tuesday’s contest will be the team’s first home game of the season, the Woodpeckers were able to get some reps in this past weekend when they travelled to Myrtle Beach to take on the Pelicans. The Fayetteville boys crushed their opponents in their first confrontation on Friday April 5, with an impressive final score of 10-3. Unfortunately, the Woodpeckers could not ride that momentum into their 2nd game the following day, losing to the Pelicans 2-9. The Woodpeckers were thankfully able to bounce back on Sunday, however, and beat the Pelicans with a final score of 10-2 to prove who the better bird truly was.
