Fayetteville Man Wins $100,000 in Powerball, As Saturday’s $935 Million Drawing Looms
Congratulations to Fayetteville’s own William Perry Jr., who won a $100,000 prize from the Powerball lottery!
Before last Saturday’s drawing Williams bought his ticket at the local Freddy Tobacco store on Raeford Road. On Saturday night Williams was able to match the numbers on four white balls along with the red Powerball, securing him a $50,000 total.
His luck didn’t end there, however. Since he purchased a Power Play ticket, Williams’ winnings doubled to a whopping $100,000 when the 2x multiplier took effect.
Williams collected his cash prize this past Thursday in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Williams walked out over $71,000 richer. Williams is one of two North Carolina Powerball players who won the $100,000 prize, with the other being a Davidson County woman.
The Powerball jackpot now sits at $935 million for the next drawing, which will be Saturday March 30 at 10:59pm. The jackpot’s cash value is worth $449.7 million, which could go to another lucky winner in North Carolina!
Just a reminder: all lottery offices and claims centers are closed today for Good Friday, as well as Easter weekend. They will reopen and resume normal business hours on Monday, April 1.
