Natalie Portman Finalizes Divorce After Affair Rumors
Natalie Portman’s divorce from her director/choreographer husband, Benjamin Millepied, has been finalized after eleven years of marriage. Per People, Portman’s July divorce filing was finalized last month in France. The Annihilation star’s ex-husband is from France and the two live with their children, son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 7.

As we previously reported a month before Portman's divorce filing, an article in the French outlet Voici claimed the choreographer, 46, had an extramarital affair with a 25-year-old woman. A source told ET at the time, “It was short-lived, and it is over.” The actress, 42, tried to remain with him and work things out despite his infidelity. That time of reconciliation was short-lived as well, as one month later, she went through that divorce filing.
Natalie is “incredibly private and has no intention of playing this out in the media,” the insider tells People. She has always prioritized her children’s privacy and safety. The insider adds that she and Millepied still share the same love and focus on caring for their kids, so co-parenting isn’t a concern. However, a friend of the couple says Portman “hoped her marriage would be forever.” She has since made peace with where they are now and is navigating how to be great parents to their kids while no longer a couple.
Moving On
Since their separation, both have kept busy with work commitments. Millepied is the choreographer on Dune: Part Two, which has hit over $200 million at the global box office since being out in theaters for a week. Portman, on the other hand, has been on a press tour for her Oscar-nominated film, May December. Now, she is shooting the Guy Ritchie heist film called Fountain of Youth. The Oscar-winning actress’ next project is a limited TV series called Lady in the Lake.
Though the intensely private Millepied and Portman haven’t spoken publicly about the speculation surrounding their marriage, the latter’s interview with Vanity Fair in February said that gossip is “terrible,” and she has “no desire to contribute to it.” Funnily enough, Portman’s latest monthly book club pick for March is Nora Ephron’s Heartburn. The 1983 book is an autobiographical novel based on Ephron’s marriage to and divorce from Carl Bernstein, her second husband. The novel draws inspiration from Bernstein’s affair with Margaret Jay, daughter of former British prime minister James Callaghan. Portman expressed how she was “excited” to finally read about the “transformation of pain into humorous art.”
