Warming Centers and White Flag Shelters Open In Cumberland County Amid Freezing Temps
Here’s something I bet you haven’t heard yet: it’s getting cold out there. Temperatures are set to drop below freezing today throughout North Carolina. To battle these frigid temperatures, Cumberland County has partnered with the city of Fayetteville to open government facilities as warming centers.

According to a news release on the Cumberland County government’s official website, the warming centers will be opened during normal business hours today for residents may not have the means to escape the cold.
The following locations in Cumberland County are available as warming centers today:
- Cumberland County Department of Social Services – 1225 Ramsey St. (7:30am-5:00pm)
- Cumberland County Department of Public Health – 1235 Ramsey St. (8:00am-5:00pm)
- All eight Cumberland County Public Library locations (click here to find your local library and their business hours)
- Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Centers (click here to find a center closest to you, as well as business hours and contact info)
- Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) – 505 Franklin St. (click here for FAST business hours)
In addition to these, other Cumberland County locations are also serving as White Flag shelters tonight to provide respite from the cold for those in need. The White Flag shelter locations include:
- True Vine Ministries – 5315 Morganton Rd., Fayetteville
- The Salvation Army of the Sandhills Region – 245 Alexander St., Fayetteville
- Cornerstone Christian Empowerment Center – 111 N. Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville
