Rowan Street Rite-Aid Torn Down For New Starbucks, Bojangles in Fayetteville
If you drove by the intersection of Rowan Street and Ramsey Street in Fayetteville this weekend, you likely saw the old Rite-Aid building being torn down, but is a Starbucks being built there?
According to the Cumberland County Development Review site, plans have been submitted for a couple of new fast food (and drink) places to go in at the intersection.
Plans were submitted on September 14, 2022 for a Bojangles and Starbucks location on the corner. The Rite-Aid location that had been on the site closed in June of 2018, and has sat vacant since that time. It was built in 2004.
Specific plans for the Starbucks building were submitted in late April of 2023, and call for a main entry along Ramsey Street, using the parking-lot access that had already been in place. The drive-thru setup is set to be similar to other newer locations around Fayetteville, based on current designs. It does appear to be a drive-thru only location.
The last plans that show as being submitted for development review with Cumberland County for the Bojangles building, were the September 2022 plans.
According to 2021 redevelopment plans for the site from the Providence Group, the Fayetteville intersection of Rowan and Ramsey Streets – where the new Starbucks and Bojangles will be – gets around 28,000 vehicles per day, making it a prime, high-traffic intersection.
