What Are Some Of The Top Dating Profile Deal Breakers
When it comes to dating apps, what’s an immediate deal breaker? A study looked at the top dating profile deal-breakers that immediately turn us off.
Date Psychology collected 130 responses from Twitter describing dating app deal-breakers and coded them into survey items for men and women. Their study included survey participants who were 89 percent heterosexual, 10 percent were bisexual, and 1 percent were gay or lesbian.
In assessing deal-breakers, participants were asked to imagine a dating profile where the photo presented was physically attractive enough for them to swipe right on (or accept). The idea was that participants should assess deal-breakers in the context of a physically attractive photo.
Deal-breakers were rated on a scale of 1 to 5. A 1 indicated they would be highly willing to compromise or overlook the deal-breaker. A 5 indicated an absolute deal breaker they would always swipe left on (or reject the profile of), regardless of the person in the photo’s attractiveness.
The worst things to see in a dating profile.
According to the study, one of the worst things a man can have in their profile is that he seems aggressive or violent. 84 percent of surveyors said that would be a deal-breaker. Only 79 percent said that if a man’s profile features something racist, then it’s a deal-breaker.
For women, the study found that if her bio includes a link to her OnlyFans account only 70 percent of guys said they would swipe left. Apparently, women asking for money in their bio were within the top two deal-breakers. The top second worst thing to see for women’s profiles was profiles that include Venmo or Cash App links with about 63 percent.
There were some unusually petty reasons for “swiping left” found in the study such as 5 percent of survey participants wouldn’t date a woman who loves Disney. And 5 percent wouldn’t date a guy who wore a hat in his profile pic.
Almost no one called owning pets a deal-breaker. Only 23 percent of women and 17 percent of men said having no bio is an immediate deal-breaker.
