Grab A Chilled Glass, Powdered Beer Now Exists
There’s instant pudding, instant coffee, and now instant beer. Yes, powdered beer is something that now exists. The powder allows beer lovers to make it in the same way you would make instant coffee or a protein shake. You mix it with water and stir. It’s not the first time someone has made powdered beer. But what makes this instant beer different is that it’s carbonated.
According to the New York Post, Neuzeller Klosterbräu, a German brewery with almost 500 years of experience in the industry, has invented a powdered lager that can almost mimic the look of beer on tap just by adding water. The creators claim that it’s really good and tastes just like regular beer.
The version of the beer that’s currently available is non-alcoholic. But they say a boozy version will be available in the next few months, and they’ll start selling it globally.
The Benefits of Powdered Beer
Neuzeller Klosterbräu is making this beer because it’s cheaper and easier to transport, so there’s a much smaller carbon footprint. The New York Post reported that Stefan Fritsche, the brewery’s general manager, said that by removing the extra weight created by glass and water, the invention could reduce transport weight by 90 percent.
In a video, the Eastern German brewery shows how its concept works. Someone put two scoops of powdered beer into a glass that is filled with water. Then they combine the water and powdered beer with a hand blender. That’s all it takes. From the video, it looks just like beer. It is copper colored with foam at the top.
Neuzeller Klosterbräu has over forty more beverages in the process of being invented. They currently have cherry beer, anti-aging beer, and ginger beer inventions. Fritsche said in the New York Post article that they’re also creating a bath beer. So, beer lovers can bathe inside of beer.
