Ricky Martin Faces 50 Years In Prison Over Domestic Violence and Incest Charge: Report
Ricky Martin has been accused of domestic violence accuser by one of his own family members and now the singer-songwriter is looking to face up to 50 years behind bars, according to a new report from Spanish news website Marca.
Martin’s accuser is his 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, which would introduce incest into the case in Puerto Rico. According to the victim, Ricky, 50, exercised physical and psychological attacks on him in the relationship they had for seven months. When the nephew allegedly ended the relationship, Ricky did not accept it and continued to contact him and show up at his home.
Per gossip website TMZ, Ricky’s brother, Eric, reportedly identified the alleged victim; the trial will begin July 21.
“We are confident that when the true facts come to light in this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated,” the singer’s law firm says in a statement.
As we earlier reported, that’s not the only legal battle that the singer is fighting (although it is the most serious). Martin’s former manager Rebecca Drucker is suing the singer for $3 million. Drucker, who worked with Martin from 2014-2018 and then again from 2020-2022, is suing the “Livin’ la Vida Loca” singer for unpaid commissions, according to legal documents.
Drucker noted two separate occasions where his “personal and professional life [being]” was “in absolute turmoil” and allegedly helped the Puerto Rican singer navigate the world of “recording contracts, touring and sponsorship deals, and other professional endeavors.”
“Rebecca Drucker saved Ricky Martin’s career,” the 15-page suit alleged. “There is just one problem: Martin completely and maliciously refused to pay Rebecca the millions of dollars in commissions that he owes her under their management agreement.”
Drucker also claimed in the suit that the singer was threatened and intimidated with a “potentially career-ending allegation” in September 2020. “Rebecca has also fiercely protected Martin,” she alleged in the suit, noting that she “advised him and brought in top litigation counsel to handle the matter.” Due to her help and knowledge of the music industry, she noted, Martin reportedly “emerged unscathed and proceeded with his professional resurgence.”
