BREAKING: Cape Fear High School Principal Brian Edkins Has Died
Cape Fear High School principal Brian Edkins has died, Cumberland County Schools announced Tuesday afternoon.
“It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of Mr. Brian Edkins, the beloved principal of Cape Fear High School,” Dr. Marvin Connelly Jr., Superintendent of Cumberland County Schools said in a release. “He passed away suddenly this morning. This is a great loss for the entire Cumberland County community.”
Edkins has been the principal at Cape Fear since 2019. He had previously spent 2 years at Scotland County High School, and before that was principal at South View High School.
“Mr. Edkins, whose career in public education spanned more than 25 years, served diligently in various capacities in Cumberland County Schools. During his tenure with the school system, he served as a teacher, safe school coordinator, assistant principal/athletic director and principal of South View and Cape Fear high schools,” CCS said. “He also served as the principal of Scotland High School.”
Edkins is survived by his wife, Dr. Susan Edkins and his children.
