UNC Legend Roy Williams Retiring After 33 Years in College Basketball
Major news from the college basketball world today, as University of North Carolina men’s basketball coach Roy Williams has announced he is retiring after 33 years in the college game.
The school has announced a news conference for 4 p.m. today for Williams to address the media.
After 33 years as a Hall of Fame head coach, our beloved Tar Heel Roy Williams is announcing his retirement.

Williams finishes his career with 903 wins, including a 485-163 record at UNC. Before he was with the Tarheels, he was the third-winningest coach in Kansas basketball history.
Williams led the Tarheels to three national championships, in 2005, 2009 and 2017, and was in nine Final Fours overall between Kansas and UNC.
There is already an outpouring of support from the basketball community, including from cross-Triangle rival Duke University.

The Atlantic Coast Conference issued a statement from Commissioner Jim Phillips congratulating Williams on his career.
"Roy's fingerprints will forever be on the sport of college basketball, and specifically the Atlantic Coast Conference."
