Netflix Password Sharing Crackdown Is Underway
As we previously reported, Netflix is on a quest to crack down on password sharing. At the time, they were trying to “monitor accounts that are sharing their login credentials and employ new measures to curtail it.”
Now, they are taking it one step further.
Fox Business states that some users are now getting a pop-up asking for verification that they own the Netflix account. The warning message says, “If you don’t live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching.”

They add that afterward, Netflix will give users the option to verify their account through a code, or users will get the option to verify later. If they are unable to verify account ownership within a certain timeframe, the app will prompt them to create a new account.
A rep for Netflix spoke to FOX Business and said this feature is “designed to help ensure that people using Netflix accounts are authorized to do so.”
