Pet Adoptions Just $28 in August As County Tries to ‘Clear the Shelter’
Cumberland County’s Animal Shelter is aiming to put itself out of work this month – in a good way. In an attempt to find homes for 300 pets, the shelter has partnered with WRAL for the 6th Annual Clear the Shelters pet adoptions event, they announced in a release Tuesday.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Clear the Shelter event will look a little different,” said Animal Control Director Elaine Smith. “Instead of a daylong event, we will shift to a month-long adoption campaign. This will enable us to maintain social distancing protocols and coordinate appointments for all adoptions.”
The event allows for all pet adoptions to be just $28 instead of the normal $68-$117 based on pet gender and weight. That includes rabies vaccination, pet privilege license, microchip and spay or neuter.
All pet adoptions are by appointment only.
The Animal Shelter is located at 4704 Corporation Dr., Fayetteville. The Shelter hours for adoptions are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m.
