NFL Will Require Fans Attending Games to Wear Masks
Fans that attend an NFL game this season will be required to wear a mask.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy shared via Twitter, “For those wondering, yes, it is league-wide: Fans at NFL games this season will be required to wear face coverings.”
This news comes on the heels of the NFL agreeing to cancel the 2020 preseason to help curb the spread of COVID-19. In addition to scrapping the preseason, training camp roster sizes have also been reduced to 80 players. Training camps are slated to begin on July 28.
Currently, the NFL plans to play a full 17-week regular season with some teams being able to host fans at a reduced capacity.
Per Fox Business, “The NFL said it would determine which teams would be able to host fans on a case-by-case basis according to guidance from local and state public health officials. Some teams, including the New York Jets, the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles, are expected to play without crowds.”
