Fort Bragg Announces Drive-Through Coronavirus Screening Site on Post
Fort Bragg has announced it will open a drive-through testing center for the coronavirus (COVID-19) this weekend. The details are below.
From Fort Bragg:
Beginning Saturday, March 28, Fort Bragg will operate an outdoor, drive-through COVID-19 Screening, Education, and Testing (as required) Site for personnel eligible to receive treatment from Womack Army Medical Center.
Site access will be at the intersection of Honeycutt Road and Bragg Blvd. Military Police will be present to help control traffic and ensure safety.
Our site will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 7-days a week until further notice. Appointments are not required; however, we will carefully manage site throughput and may adjust our operating hours in the future, as needed.
Health care professionals will conduct all aspects of the Screening, Education, and Testing (as required). The screening will consist of a health questionnaire and a temperature reading. For those deemed at risk of having the disease, medical professionals will administer a COVID-19 test via a nasal catheter and saline flush. At no time will you be required to exit your vehicle while at the site.
Why are we operating this outdoor site? Our outdoor, drive-through site allows for increased access to medical professionals while reducing the risk of transmission of the virus. The outdoor site will also help to protect our Womack Army Medical Center staff so they can concentrate on treatment and further protect vulnerable patients at Womack.
Who can use our outdoor, drive-through site? Personnel eligible to receive treatment from Womack Army Medical Center.
Having said this, and to minimize the spread of COVID-19, Womack Army Medical Center, the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) still recommend those with COVID-19 symptoms to stay at home and call your healthcare provider for medical advice.
If you are concerned that you may have COVID-19, and before going to our outdoor, drive-through site, please ask yourself these questions:
- Within the past two weeks, have you traveled outside the United States or been in close contact with someone else who has traveled outside the United States?
- Have you been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last two weeks?
- Are you, or your dependent, at a higher risk due to underlying health conditions?
- Are you a healthcare provider or first responder who helped care for a person who was confirmed positive for COVID-19 within the last two weeks?
- Do you have symptoms similar to those of COVID-19 such as a high fever (100.4 degrees or higher) – AND – cough, or shortness of breath – AND – answered yes to one of the above questions?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above, and you can drive safely, you are encouraged to go to our outdoor, drive-through site.
Be sure to bring the following items with you to the screening site: DOD Issued identification, knowledge of travel history dates and locations, and contact information.
We ask for your patience at our outdoor, drive-through site as wait times will be based on site volume. The site is laid out well, and we will do our best to ensure your experience is as safe, efficient, and effective as possible.
Remember, the best defense against COVID-19 remains social distancing, self-isolation if you already have symptoms, good hygiene including frequent hand washing and patience.
