Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi Announces That She’s Retiring From ‘Jersey Shore’
It’s an end of an era. Just days after posting about the tenth anniversary of Jersey Shore, Snooki has announced that she will be retiring from the show.
The reality star made the announcement on her It’s Happening podcast.
She says, “I love you so much and don’t hate me for my decision, but I have to do what’s best for me at the moment. And I am retiring from Jersey Shore.”
She also explains that she plans on spending more time with her husband and her three children. “I just can’t do it anymore. Like, literally, leaving my kids to film it is really, really hard on me… I try and quit every single day. The poor producers are like, ‘Dude, are you going to quit this time?’ I quit every single time we film because I just hate being away from the kids. I don’t like partying, like, three days in a row. It’s just not my life anymore. And I want to be home with the kids. I don’t mind a here or there going to a dinner or whatever, but it’s just really hard for me to leave the kids and film the show. That’s one reason.”
Snooki adds that she feels the show is going in a negative direction, and she doesn’t want to be part of the drama. “When I leave my kids and I film the show, I want to have a good time and I’m putting myself out there and I just want to come off as a good person. And lately on the show it’s been very drama. Our show, Jersey Shore, is about family and making fun of each other and having a good time and laughing and just knowing that it’s all in good fun. And lately, it’s just like everything is so serious.”
She also reveals that her family has received death threats as a result of being on the show. She says, “With all the drama and getting death threats and getting death threats to my children… [I’m] over this freaking reality show that’s not even that serious. And people take it too seriously. And my store, people want to picket it. They want to boycott it and [are] leaving reviews that I have bugs in my store. It’s just a lot and it’s not something I signed up for with this show.”
Snooki does assure fans that she will still do other reality TV in the future. She also announced that she would be doing a tour for fans to see her and her best friend Joey’s podcast live.
