‘I Am Patrick Swayze’ Documentary Looks At The Actor’s Dark Side
Get the tissues ready; the new Patrick Swayze documentary might make you get a bit emotional.
I Am Patrick Swayze is coming to TV Sunday, and it will showcase the actor’s life and career for his fans.
The trailer starts with Swayze saying, “I mean, you’re only on this planet for so long. Go for it now!”
The trailer has movie clips from some of his best roles, pictures, and interviews from some of his co-stars and fellow actors, including Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Sam Elliot, Kelly Lynch, and Jennifer Grey.
There are also clips with his wife, Lisa Niemi Swayze, where she discusses some of his inner demons and painful secrets about his childhood.
People Magazine explains that in the documentary, Lisa discusses Patrick’s mom in detail. She was “really an example of what happens in families in a cycle of abuse. She could be very violent, but it was nothing compared to what she endured growing up and the stories I heard about what she went through with her own mother.”
Lisa also tells People that Patrick “became very aware of the positive and the negative aspects of how he was raised. But you know what, if somebody pushes you that hard, like his mom did, it could make some people cave, but it made him fight harder.”
I Am Patrick Swayze will air on August 18 on the Paramount Network, on what would have been the actors 67th birthday.
