Vevo Closing Websites and Mobile Apps… About Time!
It was just like fetch: they tried to make it happen, but it didn’t work.
Vevo will be shutting down their website and all mobile apps. Considering that Vevo was a joint partnership between Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group, it’s surprising the platform was up for so long.
In their blog post, Vevo shares the following: “We will continue to be the primary seller of Vevo-specific advertising on all distribution platforms – including the sponsorship of video premieres.”
The platform was used to verify that Music Videos were official, and many artists were able to work their way up through YouTube and Vero congruently. But with this in mind, it looks as if the platform will still continue to do that, but won’t be its own entity.
They did not notate when the products such as the apps and site will go offline.
