Prestigious University Has Professor Quit After Sexual Harassment Claims
A political science professor at Harvard University has resigned after being accused of sexual harassment.
According to Complex, the Chronicle of Higher Education reported that, Jorge Dominguez, has resigned after eighteen different women have come forward and accused the professor of sexual harassment.
The allegations go back to the 80’s, when Terry Karl, a junior professor at the time, said that Dominguez would touch her inappropriately. At the time, Dominguez was to be the next department chair, but was removed from the opportunity due to the incident and told that if anything happened again in the future that he was be fired.
After the other women came forward about similar issues that Karl went through, most of the complaints were dismissed.
“The silence was not mine, it was Harvard’s.” said Karl.
Just after the Chronicle’s published report, Harvard put Dominguez on administrative leave but then later, Dominguez sent out an email to his colleagues saying, “I am retiring from my job at Harvard at the end of this semester, it has been a privilege to serve the university.”
Sounds to me like he took the coward’s way out.
According to Complex, Dominguez has refused to comment on the matter.
