Daniel Dae Kims’s latest role has earned him a lot of fans thirsting over him, declaring him the newest zaddy on the scene. While reading thirst tweets ahead of the live-action premiere of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kim stars as the antagonist, Fire Lord Ozai. Besides being dubbed a zaddy, Kim is also called a “gigachad.” The compliment comes from having a ripped physique and chiseled, square jaw — both of which Kim possesses.
Kim was born in Busan, South Korea on August 4, 1968. He moved to the US when he was one year old, later graduating from New York University’s Graduate Acting Program in 1996. After graduation, he made a name for himself on various television programs like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Charmed, The Shield, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, and ER. His film credits include American Shaolin, which enabled him to showcase his Tae Kwon Do skills. He then had small roles in Spider-Man 2, Crash, and Hulk. His breakthrough role would be on Lost, where he was a regular cast member from 2004 to the series finale in 2010. Rightfully so, the actor was named one of People‘s “Sexiest Men Alive” in 2005.

Following Lost, Kim earned a role in the Hawaii Five-0 reboot, then in the Good Doctor. Kim also lent his voice to the video game series Saints Row as Johnny Gat, two episodes of Justice League Unlimited as Metron in the same year, and Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon as Chief Benja. He would also embark on theater projects, The King and I in England, before making his Broadway debut in the same play.
