Feds Arrest Nicki Minaj’s Husband For Failing To Register As a Sex Offender
Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty has been arrested by U.S. Marshals on an indictment for failure to register as a sex offender, as gossip site TMZ reports. On Wednesday (Mar. 4), Petty was in federal custody, after reportedly turning himself into the Marshals.
Petty is scheduled to face a judge later on Wednesday, according to court documents. He moved to California in July of 2019. However, he was pulled over by police in Beverly Hills back in November and that’s what started his legal issues. On November 15, 2019, Beverly Hills Police Department made a traffic stop and determined that Petty was a registered sex offender in New York State. However, the convicted rapist hadn’t registered in the state of California, which is required.
Petty was released on a $20,000 bond. In 1995, Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape and served almost four years in New York state prison. If he is convicted of the federal charge for failure to register, he could face up to a decade in prison. Last July is when Petty and Minaj also went to the Beverly Hills Courthouse to obtain a marriage license. Minaj has yet to speak on the issue.
