After singing, Kelly said, “Happy Birthday, baby. Daddy loves you. I love you. No matter what, I love you so much.” The singer currently has his comments turned off on Instagram.
Joann, who is also known as Buku Abi, according to Vibe, previously released a statement in response to Kelly’s criminal sexual abuse case and referred to her father as a “monster.” She also mentioned having uncomfortable experiences with the “Ignition” singer.
“I would never want anyone to feel the pain I have felt,” Abi wrote in her statement in Jan. 2019. “The same monster you all confronting me about is my father. I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house. My choice to not speak on him and what he does is for peace of mind.”
Earlier this month, Kelly tearfully said that he has no relationship with his three children during his infamous interview with Gayle King.
The singer-songwriter also recently spent time in jail for unpaid back child support. Kelly owed his ex-wife Drea Kelly over $161K in child support payments that he let wrack up.
After his release, Kelly returned to court a week later for a hearing in an attempt to get his child support payments reduced. The singer wanted his $21,000 monthly child support payments to reduce because, amidst his criminal sexual abuse case, the singer hasn’t been able to book shows or work in the manner that he usually does, according to his publicist.
