Fayetteville: Where To Buy The Best Turkey
With just three weeks away from Thanksgiving Day (11/28), we start to focus our attention on the Thanksgiving meal, whether you’re cooking it yourself, having the family over, or bringing a dish.
Every year without fail, my mother-in-law would send us ads from grocery stores to find the best and the cheapest turkey. We managed to get a pretty good one every year.
Fried Turkey
And then there’s the subject of fried turkey. My husband and I recently chatted about the possibility this year, and he said, “Oh wow, there’s so much you have to do to fry a turkey. I think we’ll just stick with the oven,” but a lot of people love fried turkey.
Favorite Holiday
As we near what some people call their favorite holiday, a time when we sit with family, eat, and tell each other what we’re thankful for, I looked around a bit and found some good places to get a turkey here in Fayetteville… A good one and maybe even a cheap one.
Cathis Farm – Turkeys
Cathis Farm is located at 544 Falcon Rd in Lillington. Their chickens and turkeys forage pastures with access to fresh air, grass, and sunlight. They feed them a supplemental high-quality local and non-GMO chicken feed. They also monitor each chicken for health, wellness, and happiness.
The Fried Turkey Sandwich Shop
The Fried Turkey Sandwich Shop is a fast-casual restaurant with a concept that uses all-breast meat fried turkey that is always fried in-house to make many various types of sandwiches, platters, wraps, and bites with a goal to provide you with an exclusive and unique dining experience.
The restaurant opened its doors on September 22, 2008, on Cumberland Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The restaurant was very successful and ran completely out of turkey on our second day open.
The location, which is open on Thanksgiving Day, is at 2318 Paintersmill Dr.
The Cheapest Turkeys
Note: Fresh turkeys are typically more expensive than frozen turkeys because they are often harvested and transported quickly to ensure freshness.
Walmart
Walmart has pretty cheap prices on turkeys. Some turkeys are $21 to $12 to $18. They have butterball turkeys and Honeysuckle White Whole turkey. Most turkeys are $.88 a pound right now. It’s a great deal at a Walmart location right here in Fayetteville.
