South Carolina Food Truck Named One of the Food Network’s Best
A popular South Carolina food truck has been named one of the best in America by the experts at the Food Network. Food trucks are really all the rage right now. I’m always excited to try a new food truck and am rarely disappointed. Over the summer, I was at a music festival and ordered a hummus sandwich from a food truck I had never heard of, and it was literally one of the best hummus sandwiches I’ve ever had. So, you never know what magical item you’ll find at a food truck. If you’re looking for some amazing food trucks in South Carolina, here you go.
The Best Food Trucks in America, Including in South Carolina
The Food Network has scoured the country in search of the best food trucks. They picked 26 to highlight in a new article, and a few of them are in the regional area. “While certain cities have emerged as major food truck hubs (think Austin, Portland and LA), they’re hardly the only spots where you can score incredible meals on wheels,” the Food Network notes in the article. “Join us on a road trip of America’s best on-the-go eats.” The Food Network, of course, are experts at all things food, so you can trust what they say about food trucks. It’s fascinating to look through their tally of food trucks and see all the different kinds of food offered. I love that food trucks have very specialized food.
So, which South Carolina food truck made the cut? It’s the beloved and legendary Roti Rolls in Charleston. The Food Network notes that this food truck is often voted Charleston’s best food truck, and for a while, they say it was the city’s only food truck. “To be sure, the ‘Green Machine’ is always a welcome sight on the streets, serving roti parathas padded with Caribbean-, Asian- and Indian-inspired fillings made from locally grown ingredients,” they add. “Think the Funky Farmer with coconut-green-curried local vegetables, the Thurman Murman with braised local short rib and Creole mac ‘n’ cheese, and the Shrimpin’ Ain’t Easy, featuring pickled local shrimp and butter bean chow-chow.” As for their story, on their website, Roti Rolls states, “Roti Rolls was the first food truck to hit the streets of Charleston, South Carolina, back in 2010. It quickly became a local favorite, serving up delicious eats at the Charleston Farmers Market and wherever it could find a spot to park.”
