Cyndi Lauper Says She First Started Listening to Taylor Swift During the Pandemic
Cyndi Lauper is another major name to speak on her appreciation of Taylor Swift.
During an appearance on the BBC’s The One Show, Lauper said of Swift, “Look, I like her. I think she’s terrific. As an artist, she writes some wonderful songs.”
Lauper continued, “I first started listening during the pandemic when she went and hibernated and did that wonderful folk record. It was wonderful. I’m proud of her.”
The “wonderful folk record” Lauper was referring to was 2020’s Folklore. Like every other artist in the world, Swift’s tour plans were put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With the unexpected downtime, Swift made Folklore. She announced to fans on July 23 that the surprise album was coming out the following day. Folklore was a commercial and critical success and landed on many “Best Albums of 2020” lists. On top of that, Folklore won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
Cyndi Lauper Farewell Tour
In other news: Cyndi Lauper announced earlier this month that she will be embarking on her farewell tour beginning in October.
The “2024 Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour” kicks off on October 18 in Montreal and will wrap on December 5 in Chicago. In between, Lauper will make stops in Detroit, Boston, New York, Tampa and Atlanta. Additionally, she will make multiple stops within Texas and California.
