Jennifer Lopez And Simu Liu Shut Down Ben Affleck Divorce Question
While attending the Mexico City press tour stop for their upcoming action film Atlas, Jennifer Lopez and Simu Liu shut down a reporter asking about Lopez’s marriage.
Reporter Asks If The Affleck Divorce Is ‘Real’
As the two actors sat and took press questions, J-Lo gave a reporter the go to ask her a question. He said, “Your divorce [with] Ben Affleck is real?” As we previously reported, Bennifer’s marriage seems to be up in the air, two years after the couple wed after 20 years apart.
Though neither Ben, 51, nor Jen, 54, have publicly shut down or confirmed a split, it has been noticed that they have not attended red carpet events recently, nor have they been spotted out together in a month until recently. Jen has been doing her Atlas premieres solo, though that could be because Ben is filming The Accountant 2.
Multiple outlets report that the two are also not living together anymore. On top of that, Ben was caught by gossip site TMZ for not wearing his wedding ring once. Since then, he has been wearing his ring, and J-Lo never stopped wearing hers.
Simu Liu Defends His Co-Star
With the rumors circulating online that Lopez and Affleck are ending their marriage, Liu, came to Lopez’s defense. She smiled and scoffs at first when the reporter asked the question about divorce, but Liu was completely serious. The Barbie actor responds, “Okay, we’re not doing that.” Redirecting the questions to not be on that subject, Liu adds, “Thank you so much. We really appreciate it … come on, don’t come in here with that energy. Please.”
Lopez was even more blunt, telling the reporter simply, “You know better than that.”
In a clip that has been shared online of the interaction, Liu later took a moment to praise Lopez, who produced their upcoming film. As we reported, Atlas finds Lopez launching into orbit, where she plays the titular character, a government analyst who’s hurled to a distant world on a quest to defeat her oldest enemy: the robot warrior who upended her life. Liu stars as Harlan, the first AI terrorist. The supporting cast includes Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, and Mark Strong.
“The reason why I am here and the reason Sterling is in this beautiful movie is because Jen cares. Jen cares about things like representation and diversity. Jen is a boss.”
