It’s Masters Week, and while the weather is looking iffy for Thursday, it was a beautiful day for a practice round and prep day at Augusta National on Tuesday.
Wednesday is the Par 3 tournament, which is always a good time, but Tuesday is the last real chance for golfers to get in a good practice round.
Gates opened at 8 a.m. today, with the Par 3 Contest scheduled to begin at noon on the 9-hole Executive Course. Before that, golfers can still take to the main course for additional practice.
But Wednesday is all about the Par 3, the family-friendly all smiles contest that dates back to 1960.
Everyone in the field is eligible to play, as well as past Masters champions. Tom Hoge finished at 6-under to win the event last year. But winning the event is often considered a curse, as no Par 3 winner has ever one the big tournament that year. Hoge missed the cut last year.
The best part about the Par 3 tournament though, is the families and friends involved. Players will have their wives, children, girlfriends, dads, moms, or other friends and family caddying for them. That makes for some of the cutest photos of the week, as little kids run around in their official Masters caddy uniforms. We’ll have those photos for you later today.
We also got the first and second-round groupings and tee times Tuesday, and you can check those out here.
