April Fools’: Jared Leto Replaces Pat Sajak On ‘Wheel Of Fortune’

Jared Leto has pulled the biggest April Fools’ Day prank of the year. On Monday night’s (April 1) episode of Wheel of Fortune, the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman shocked viewers when he strode in arm-in-arm with Vanna White, pretending to be host. Leto, 52, gave the cameras a nice smile and the audience a wave.
He told the famed letter-turner, “Have a great show and see you soon.” Meeting the contestants, Leto continued without missing a beat: “All right, everybody, grab those devices. It’s time to give away some money. A $1000 in our first toss-up, the category is on the map.”
The Requiem For A Dream actor perfectly copied OG host Pat Sajak’s catchphrase at the beginning of the show. Then, in an instant, the trivia show cut to Sajak, 77, hosting as he normally does, and no mention of Leto was made at any point throughout the rest of the game show.
Fans were shocked and confused by the act, taking to social media to see if anyone else saw Leto as host. One person said, “Pat’s taking the night off tonight. Somebody call up the guy who couldn’t read from My So-Called Life and get him out here.” Another fan said, “My wife and I were just talking about whether we really saw Jared Leto or not. I’m so happy for this tweet.” A third commented, “It was extremely weird that they never said anything about it, even at the end of the show.”
“The fact he just disappeared right away sucked. I called for my kids, and then he was gone. But, on the plus side, he was gone,” wrote another. Someone else said, “They didn’t even say April fools!” One person stated: “Have I done too many drugs or is f—ing Jared Leto hosting wheel of fortune rn.”
Sajak has hosted the long-running series since 1981, revealing last June that this season will be his last. Ryan Seacrest is the next in line to take over after Sajak’s final run.

Last year, Leto and his brother Shannon Leto, 54, both popped over to Wheel Of Fortune as “contestants” alongside another contestant named Mary. The brothers were awkward during their appearance, attempting a puzzle in the “Show Biz” category. Their bit led to Mary solving the puzzle with no hints to announce the band’s world tour. The siblings have both been members of the rock group since it was formed in 1998 in Los Angeles.
These Actors Don't Watch Their Own Work
For some actors, signing on to projects and immersing themselves in their characters is enough for them, When the shoot is over, they move on to the next project. So, they don’t feel the need to watch their own work. After months of filming for a movie or television series, the thought of watching themselves on screen isn’t of interest. Actors have many reasons as to why they don’t revisit their work.
Actors: They’re Just Like Us
For one, reliving a fictional character’s mentality and feelings is better left behind when it comes to more straining roles, especially when it comes to method actors. As humans, we tend to be our biggest critics, so nitpicking every perceived mistake in the final cut of a project could be too much for an actor to actually enjoy watching. Actors may come off as vain, but even they are not immune to insecurities that fans adore, like their faces and voices.
Sometimes, actors clash on set with other actors, directors, or the crew, and this can lead to a sour experience overall. Reliving a bad experience through watching the finished product may be something the actors might not want to relive. Production of films and television shows seems to be never-ending, with projects being filmed and released back to back. For some actors, they have just finished a role and jump right into another one without any breaks. There are even times when an actor has signed on for projects that overlap, splitting their time between sets, simultaneously switching between multiple characters. With critics and audiences alike throwing in their two cents about everything after the release, that adds to the self-consciousness actors face. There are so many reasons why actors refuse to watch their work. Below, we find out why these award-winning stars don’t watch their own work:
