Brenda Song Shares Rare Insight Into Family Life With Macaulay Culkin
Brenda Song is opening up about her private family life with Macaulay Culkin. In a new interview with E! News over the weekend, the Suite Life of Zack & Cody alum told the publication how their two young sons have affected their lives.
The couple welcomed 3-year-old son Dakota (named after Culkin’s older sister who passed away in 2008) in April 2021 and a second son named Carson in December 2022. She and the Home Alone alum have been together since 2017. In 2022, People reported that the two got engaged. The couple met on set in Thailand in 2017 while starring in Changeland.
How Song Balances Her Family Life With Culkin
“The balance is always tough, but, you know, you just gotta make it work,” Brenda told E! News over the weekend at a Clarins launch party for their new Multi-Active line. The one thing she’s always strived for is “to be able to be the best mom” and “be the best me.” Part of that, she adds, is to work, go out, and continue to enjoy life.
For the former child stars, they prefer to stay in. She joked to the publication that they don’t really get out of the house. Emphasizing that they like to eat, they enjoy their time spent together. On days off, the couple likes to go out to eat. The Disney Channel alum also noted her boys love listening to Ed Sheeran or Cocomelon.
While the couple prefers to keep their lives very low-profile, the whole family came out in December to celebrate a huge milestone for Macaulay: his Walk of Fame ceremony. It was a touching moment for the actor and musician, who gave his family a special shoutout.
“You are absolutely everything,” Macaulay told Brenda as she sat in the crowd. “You’re my champion. You’re the only person happier for me today than I am. You’re not only the best woman I’ve ever known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known. You’ve given me all my purpose. You’ve given me family.” While growing emotional, he added of his wife, “After the birth of our two boys, you’ve become one of my three favorite people.”
Early last month, Song shared the news on her Facebook about two upcoming projects. Mindy Kaling’s unnamed Netflix basketball comedy series cast her, along with Kate Hudson, Scott MacArthur, Drew Tarver, Max Greenfield, Uche Agada, and Dane DiLiegro. She joked on Facebook: “There are words!!!!” Additionally, Song has been cast in Gia Coppola’s drama film, The Last Showgirl, alongside Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd. The film recently wrapped production in Las Vegas, and Song shared photos on her Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Macaulay’s latest acting role was in 2021 as part of the starring cast of American Horror Story: Double Feature.
