Miley Cyrus Didn’t Mention Billy Ray Cyrus During Grammy Speech
Miley Cyrus attends the 66th GRAMMY Awards at Crypto.com Arena on February 04, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. Billy Ray Cyrus attends the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards at STAPLES Center on January 26, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.
Miley Cyrus performed her two-time Grammy-winning song “Flowers” at Sunday night’s (February 4) awards ceremony. The singer-songwriter earned her very first Grammy of her career for the 2023 Endless Summer Vacation hit track. The song took home the Best Pop Solo Performance trophy, presented by Mariah Carey. Miley, 31, used her acceptance speech to tell a sweet story of resilience and belief. Notably, she attended the awards show with her mother, Tish, and sister, Brandi, along with her boyfriend, singer Maxx Morando.
Later in the night, Miley retook the stage to accept her second Grammy award, this time for Record of the Year. This time, the singer-songwriter shouted out the people in her life who were a part of her journey. “This award is amazing. But I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday,” Cyrus told the crowd. “Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular.”
The 31-year-old went on to thank fellow songwriters of the track and producers before taking a moment to shout out her family and glam squad. “My mommy, my sister, my love, my main gays because look how good I look,” she said, finally stopping to think if she’d missed anyone. “Anyone else? I don’t think I forgot anyone. But I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!”
Given that Miley comes from a famous family, it didn’t go unnoticed that she failed to mention her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, or her other siblings like Noah, Braison, and Trace. Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus divorced in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage. Following their final split, it seemed the family was divided. When Tish got remarried to Prison Break star Dominic Purcell, fans noticed that only Miley, Trace, and Brandi were in attendance at the ceremony. While the wedding was taking place, it seemed as though Noah and Braison were taking their dad’s side, sharing photos on social media with Noah wearing a T-shirt with Billy Ray’s face on it. Billy Ray has since moved on as well with singer Firerose, marrying her in October of 2023.
