Usher Breaks Down On Stage After 100 Vegas Shows
Usher attends Usher's New Look presents "2023 Disruptivator Summit: Be Your Own Superhero" on July 19, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Usher celebrated the ending of his 100-show Las Vegas residency over the weekend in a touching way. The 45-year-old “Confessions” singer completed one hundred shows for his “My Way” residency. On Saturday (December 2), a fan posted a video of Usher becoming emotional and dropping to his knees in tears. He was surrounded by dancers and crew during his performance of “Without You.” Once he could compose himself, Usher started singing the 2011 David Guetta hit a capella, joined by his band and the audience. “God bless you, I love you,” he said to the crowd. One person on X wrote: “I don’t think people realize how big of a deal it is for Usher to be a Black male singer with a sold-out residency in Las Vegas. The last time there was this much buzz about a Black man running Vegas was… Sammy Davis Jr. Let that sink in.”
On social media, the “U Got It Bad” singer shared a video of him from nearly twenty years ago, talking about the potential of his doing a Vegas show. Host Trevor Nelson says in their BBC interview, “Promise me you will never become a Las Vegas resident in 20 years time.” At the time, Vegas residencies were seen as a last resort for financially struggling musicians. But for Usher, who reposted the throwback clip, he immediately turned him down and added, “I am such a theatrical artist. If I did decide to go to Las Vegas, it would be the most phenomenal thing you’ve ever seen in your life.” He wrote over the original post: “I saw it then…look at me now. [prayer hands emoji].”

What’s next for Usher after Vegas? As we previously reported, the award-winning artist will be performing the halftime show at the Super Bowl next year. Usher said in a press release, “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
Who Will Play The Super Bowl Halftime Show In 2025?
The Super Bowl is not only the biggest event every year in the sporting world, but the Halftime Show is also the biggest entertainment event. Even though the Halftime show is under 15 minutes, it is talked about months in advance. And if the performance is successful, it’ll be talked about for years afterward. Only the biggest names in music have had the honor to grace the Super Bowl stage: Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Aerosmith, *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Who, Prince, the Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Beyonce, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and 50 Cent, Rihanna, and Usher.
Super Bowl LVII show took place in Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, and featured Rihanna. Fans who were hotly anticipating new music were given another surprise by the “Diamonds” singer. Debuting her pregnant belly, the artist’s performance wasn’t as electrifying as anticipated due to her inability to do any crazy choreography. The show’s elevated stages and backup dancers tried to compensate for that. As with any pop artist, people online were criticizing her choice of wardrobe and debated on whether or not she was pregnant, as she waited until after the show to confirm it. Though this wasn’t the comeback we wanted from Rihanna, it was still great to watch her perform for the first time in years.

For Super Bowl LVIII, R&B superstar Usher shook the stage with a medley of his biggest hits. He brought along Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Lil Jon, H.E.R., will.i.am, and Jermaine Dupri for the halftime show. Back in April, he told Access Hollywood that he “would be a fool to say no” to headline the Super Bowl, a “bucket list” dream of his. Usher has sold over 23 million albums and 38 million digital songs in the United States. With over 80 million records sold worldwide, the “There Goes My Baby” singer is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. See who we predict will take the stage for Super Bowl LIX below:
