Heidi Klum dressed as a giant peacock with some help from ten Cirque du Soleil performers at her annual Halloween party in New York City. The “Halloween Queen” reached new heights this year, spreading her wings with the incorporation of the dancers, along with the use of prosthetics and special effects makeup to make her costume. As we previously reported, Klum said this year’s costume would outdo last year’s giant earthworm. Though this year’s costume is impressive, last year’s worm suit was a thing of nightmares.
Klum, 50, dressed in faux feathers on the carpet outside the party held at the nightclub Marquee in Chelsea. The professional performers took formation with the Project Runway alum to make a human pyramid. The acrobats twisted and contorted and flew through the air in a mesmerizing display, concealing the German-American model, who was hiding on the ground. For the big reveal, Klum crawled through a set of legs and stood at the center atop one of the performer’s thighs to give the illusion of a giant peacock.
She completed the costume with a prosthetic beak and a peacock headpiece. Wearing a blue velour unitard, the outfit was designed with sparkles on the head and neck of the bird. Each of the performers surrounding Klum also wore unitards in patterns of feathery greens, with their faces painted to match. Their costumes took about two hours each, using a myriad of products, including foil, sparkles, and airbrushed paint.
Klum told the New York Times that she had become familiar with Cirque du Soleil from when she hosted Germany’s Next Top Model. Over the summer, she reached out to begin “Project Peacock.” She picked a peacock because she thought the dynamic way the birds are known to show off their feathers would make for a stunning performance. The custom patterns were designed and printed by Cirque du Soleil’s in-house team, with individual Swarovski crystals applied to each suit. Heidi said, “I’m really into the bedazzling,” adding that no real feathers were used in the costumes.
Hottest Celebrity Halloween Costumes of 2023
Halloween is the best holiday for a number of reasons: you get to watch scary movies the whole month leading up to it with no judgment, you can stuff your face with the candy you “bought for trick-or-treaters,” and you can dress up as whatever you want to be. Halloween for the rich and famous takes the latter to the next level, leading to some very elaborate get-ups. Prosthetics and wigs are just some of the tools Hollywood’s elite transform their Halloween costumes to become memorable inspirations for years to come.
Heidi Klum is probably the most popular celebrity when Halloween season comes around. She hosts a major Halloween bash and goes all-out year after year with her costumes. Over the years, she’s dressed up as Cleopatra, a butterfly, a vampire, a dominatrix, Lady Godiva, a witch, Betty Boop, Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and a worm. Megan Thee Stallion hosts her annual Hottieween party, and the young rapper goes all-out as well.
However, celebrities don’t have to host parties to be known for their creativity in Halloween costumes. Kourtney Kardashian loves Halloween and does multiple looks for the holiday. Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly wear coordinating costumes. Billie Eilish has dressed up as some kind of niche character that no one else is doing. Then, there are stars who honor other icons in the industry by dressing up as them.
Regardless of who it is, there is something about seeing who or what famous people dress up as for Halloween that we can’t get enough of! Dressing up is already fun to do, but on Halloween, you can dress up as anything and really let the imagination run wild. That’s why it is our favorite holiday of all time.
