Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun Split After One Year Engaged
Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun have called it quits less than a year after getting engaged, People reports. A source close to the couple confirmed it to the publicaion. “Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple.”
The singer, 38, and Mod Sun (real name Derek Ryan Smith), 35, were last publicly seen together this month. They attended a pre-Grammy event celebrating Julie Greenwald and Craig Kallman in Los Angeles.
As we earlier reported, the Canadian rocker is rumored to have moved on with rapper Tyga after sharing a meal at Nobu restaurant Sunday (Feb.19). Photos captured of the two has sparked dating rumors. Despite seemingly saying goodbye, they ended up leaving in the same car.

Lavigne and the “Amnesia” singer met in 2020 and while working on music together and began dating that November. By March 2022, he proposed to Lavigne while they were in Paris.
In a recent interview with E! News, Mod Sun described “Avril’s Song” as “dark and sweet at the same time,” noting that its lyrics are “a total metaphor” for how he’s been affected by the relationship. “I have found such a partner in this world to go through the chaos that life gives you.” He added, “I have found that person. I’m with a real grown woman who has gone through it all 10 times over and she makes me a better person.”
Speaking about their impending wedding date, Mod Sun said that Lavigne is “a motherf—ing princess,” referencing her famous song. He added, “That’s real s—, so we’re going to have we’re going to have a very special wedding. I can’t wait for that time to come.”
Meanwhile, Tyga has been linked to several famous women over the years. They include Kylie Jenner, Iggy Azalea, Jordan Craig, and Black Chyna, who he shares a son 10-year-old son with.
